“I really like Visual K or J Rock. It's just a type of style, but it's recently been like TikTok applied and just like, um, simple down to a style that I really enjoy. I also like the 2000s. That's where I get a lot of my influence, but I also thrift a lot.”

The bold and flamboyant aesthetics of Visual Kei allow individuals to transcend conventional gender norms, embracing and celebrating their androgynous or non-binary identities. The elaborate makeup, striking hairstyles, and extravagant outfits are not just a fashion statement; they are a form of self-expression that empowers individuals to be unapologetically themselves. In the world of J-rock, these fashion choices become an extension of the music, enhancing the live performances and creating a captivating visual experience. This synergy between style and music fosters a sense of belonging and allows fans to express their love for the genre in a deeply personal and creative way.

“My mom inspires a lot of my fashion. Actually. I used to wear a lot of her clothing and she used to thrift. She would like to go to Plato's Plaza and stuff. She’s also from California which is a state that has the greatest thrifting shops. It really influenced my style."

Thrifting in California is more than just a shopping excursion; it's a cultural experience that offers a window into the city's eclectic and diverse style influences. LA's thriving thrift store scene spans from vintage boutiques in Silver Lake to the sprawling flea markets of Rose Bowl and Melrose Trading Post. When individuals embark on a thrifting journey in LA, they tap into a rich tapestry of fashion history, drawing inspiration from the city's iconic eras, such as the bohemian vibes of the '60s, the glam rock of the '70s, and the grunge aesthetics of the '90s which seems to be Jaxton's style! The diversity of thrift finds, from retro denim jackets to floral dresses, allows each person to curate a style uniquely their own. It's a treasure hunt where one can discover pieces that resonate with their personal tastes, blending vintage charm with a modern twist. Thrifting in LA isn't just about sustainable fashion; it's a journey of self-discovery and a chance to express one's individuality through the vibrant tapestry of Cali's fashion history.
