"I would say the thing that inspires my style is definitely nineties grunge mixed with like 90s Chicana style."- Avery
A Look
Avery's style has texture and it is elevated through the patterns and colors she displays. Her lacy mesh long-sleeved shirt and the artistic cream-white shirt with red symbolism go so well with the red in her hair. Her shirt is an Adidas shirt that says: Mexico. Although it is a small detail it holds a lot of significance. According to the Adidas, the jersey is "inspired by ancient civilizations. adidas infused this juniors' Mexico away jersey with Mixtec art and Aztec deities to summon the fighting spirit required to rule the soccer world... a representation of humankind's physical capabilities."
Chicana Style
90s Chicana style is culturally important, merging heritage with urban expression. It empowers and resists while celebrating Chicano roots and challenging beauty norms, preserving history and symbolizing resilience in marginalized communities. 90s Chicana style is a captivating and influential fashion subculture that continues to inspire and captivate. Rooted in the vibrant Chicano culture of the 1990s, this style is a striking blend of cultural pride and streetwear chic. It showcases bold and vibrant colors, oversized silhouettes, and a unique mix of elements that reflect the intersection of Chicano identity and urban life. One intriguing twist that can be added to this fashion mix is the infusion of grunge elements. By incorporating grunge-inspired pieces such as flannel shirts, distressed denim, and combat boots, Chicana style takes on a rebellious edge. This fusion creates a captivating contrast between the Chicano culture's vibrant and rich heritage and the grunge movement's alternative and edgy aesthetic. The result is a distinctive and empowering fashion statement that celebrates both individuality and cultural roots, embodying the spirit of 90s Chicana style with a modern twist.
